Overview

Act as the general accountant across all accounting cycles (Cash – Accounts Receivable – Accounts Payable – Tax), while serving as the second line of review over transactions processed by the Junior Accountant.

Ensure accounting data is accurate and timely, and that supporting documents and expenses comply with internal workflows and prevailing tax regulations; provide reliable data supporting financial analysis (FP&A), forecasting and management decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Time allocation is indicative and may be adjusted from period to period.

1. General Accounting & Period-End Close (~55%)

  • Guide and work together with the Junior Accountant to record and review accounting entries across all cycles: cash and bank, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets and tools & supplies, revenue, cost of sales and operating expenses.
  • Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly and annual close: build and control the closing checklist, allocation and accrual entries, and period-end foreign exchange revaluation, under the guidance of the Head of Finance.
  • Reconcile detailed ledgers to the general ledger and ensure sub-ledger balances agree; prepare ageing analyses and schedules explaining material balances.
  • Perform periodic bank reconciliations and supervise payment transactions executed by the Junior Accountant.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with prevailing Vietnamese accounting regulations.
  • Review unusual transactions, discrepancies and improper entries before closing the books; propose adjusting entries.
  • Work with the external auditors within the assigned scope.

2. Document & Contract Review, Expense Compliance (~15%)

  • Review payment files and accounting documents in the internal eForm system: ensure they are complete, valid, reasonable and follow the correct approval workflow before submission to the line manager.
  • Support the Head of Finance in reviewing the financial and tax terms of purchase and sales contracts (contract value, payment schedule, acceptance conditions, VAT, foreign contractor tax, penalty clauses).
  • Ensure expenses incurred meet the conditions for corporate income tax deductibility and input VAT credit.
  • Control the timing and content of e-invoice issuance in line with prevailing regulations.

3. Tax & Regulatory Compliance (~15%)

  • Work with the Junior Accountant to prepare periodic tax declarations: VAT, personal income tax, foreign contractor tax and related statutory reports.
  • Perform annual corporate income tax and personal income tax finalisation.
  • Support the compliance obligations of other legal entities within the Group as directed by the Head of Finance.

4. Coaching & Training the Junior Accountant (~10%)

  • Assign, guide and coordinate day-to-day work with the Junior Accountant; ensure output quality before submission to the Head of Finance.
  • Provide feedback, assess work quality and propose a development plan for the Junior Accountant.

5. Finance & FP&A Support (~5%)

  • Extract, standardise and provide financial data requested by the Head of Finance for management reporting and analysis.
  • Perform other Finance & Accounting tasks as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, including time as a General Accountant or Chief Accountant at a service, retail, technology company or a comparable operating model.
  • Solid command of Vietnamese accounting regulations and of VAT, corporate income tax, personal income tax and e-invoicing rules.
  • Proven ability to prepare financial statements independently.
  • Proficient in Excel (PivotTable, lookup functions, large data sets) and Word; confident user of accounting software, MISA preferred.
  • Control and compliance mindset; careful with numbers while keeping sight of the bigger picture.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with strong cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Proactive, highly responsible, with professional integrity and the ability to work under pressure during closing and tax finalisation periods.

PREFERRED

  • Experience at a technology or software company: software licence revenue, software services, contracts with multiple performance obligations.
  • Experience in a multi-entity structure with foreign currency transactions and overseas counterparties.
